Background Information

The art of making rose beads is an ancient craft performed by the Christian monks that dates back to the Middle Ages. The monks mashed rose petals into a thick paste, which was then hand rolled to create fragrant black beads. They used a string of these rose beads, which later became known as the "rosary", to help them count their prayers.
Keepsake Roses carries on the tradition of making rose bead rosaries and also includes rose beads in our extended line of personal jewelry. Our rose beads are hand-rolled so no two are exactly alike and we stick to tradition by adding no fillers or preservatives. Rose beads are very durable and will give you many years of use as they contain a natural binding chemical. In fact, this chemical is often extracted and used in commercial hardeners!

Our Rose Petal Beads are hand rolled and have no fillers or preservatives added.   The rose petals you send us can be either fresh or dried.   Rose petals of any color may be used however the rose beads will always turn black as a result of the natural drying process.   In order to make a single rose bead, we require a single rose.  The jewelry can be made with one or more roses.  A Rosary will require approximately a dozen roses. If you do not have enough roses, we can add some of our own.

When mailing us your rose petals, place them in a small box or padded envelope and mail with your order and payment.
